Nowadays, there is ongoing discussion in Korea about maintaining gender-specific institutions. However, I think if any society wants to establish true gender equality, the most important moment is in early education. Inputting the core values of gender equality in children at a young age creates a foundation for a future generation. Also, I think different genders can focus on different spheres of this issue.
As a man, if you want to establish gender equality in boys’ hearts, it is essential to teach them that males are protectors, not hunters. In today’s society, males don’t have to hunt to survive and support families. However, being naturally stronger than females makes males natural protectors. Males can protect their wives, mothers, other women, and themselves. Moreover, men should strive to earn women’s trust by not taking advantage of them and by respecting them.
As a woman, you can encourage young girls that they can achieve anything they aspire to, regardless of their gender. The fact that men historically dominated many areas and influenced women in the past doesn’t mean women can’t take on specific roles today. Women need to have confidence in themselves first, and it is a crucial step toward true equality in the future. Additionally, women should respect diverse men and seek mutual support rather than opposing every male viewpoint or increasing unnecessary conflicts.
No matter what the strategies are, I think both genders should respect each other and understand the natural differences between them. True gender equality will be achieved in a healthy way someday in the future.
